ABSTRACT:
A study has been under taken to asses knowledge, Attitude and practices among attendants of mentally ill persons about various aspects of mental Health. Out of 1156 attendants, 61.54% Urban and 77.55% rural attendents reveals Heredity, Evil Eve, Jadoo-Tona, God wishes are responsible for mental illness. Only 3.07% and 8.65% of rural and urban attendents respectively have knowledge of one or more warning signals of poor mental health, 5.33% of urban attendents and 2.06% of rural attendents have no idea of running psychiatric clinic in medical College Hospitals in the state. It is interesting to note that majority of respondents of both rural and urban community was ready to provide employment of mentaily ill persons on completion of the treatment if opportunity arises.
