ABSTRACT:
The paper deals with a stochastic model of a two non-identical unit active redundant system. Each unit has two modes - normal (N) and failed (F). A single repairman is always available with the system to repair a failed unit. The physical condition of repairman may be found good or poor, when needed, with fixed known probabilities p and q (1 -p), respectively. The distribut1on of time to repair each unit in both the physical conditions of repairman are taken exponential with different parameters. Failure times of both the units are assumed to be correlated random variables with their joint distributions as bivariate exponential. Each repaired unit works as good as new. Various measures of system effectiveness of interest to system designers and operations managers are obtained by using supplementary variable technique.
