ABSTRACT:
The finite strain studies on the pebbles of Loa conglomerate, Bastar district, (M.P.) has been carried out with a view to understand the extent of deformation along with the stratigraphic position of this lithounit. On the basis of axial parameter computation, the three dimensional constrictional ratio of X : Y : Z is 4.5 : 3 : 1 and the finite strain ratio is 0.73. From this study it has been observed that the conglomeratic pebbles caused minor strain effects and thus do not indicate two phases of deformation as it is proposed for Bengpal Group of rocks. Hence, Loa conglomerate is included within Bailadila Group in fieu of Bengpals.
