ABSTRACT:
Nutrition is of extreme importance in the attainment of normal growth and development as well as in the maintenance of health throughout the life. Nutrition is defined as "A combination of processes by which the living organism receives and utilizes the materials necessary for the maintenance of its functions for the growth and renewal of its components." The data for present study were obtained by field survey from 252 households during April and May 2011. In the present study, it was observed that nutritional status of Halba people is below normal. The protein and calorie intake and calcium, fat, iron, carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin C deficiencies are found in all age groups of males and females of Halba tribe as compared to RDA.
