Personalization of nutrition advice is often proposed as one of the most promising approaches. In recent yearn mg of the health intervention research and methods on the effect of personalization show that advice targeted to an individu physical parameters, lifestyle and environmental situation is more effective in influencing their health behavior than gener information. Dietary intake has been recognized to modulate gene and protein expression, and thereby metabolic pathway homeostatic regulation, and presumably health and disease. As functional dietary supplement market grows exponentially the appreciation for the importance of individual or combination of components in disease prevention and health is alse increasing. Although the routine practice of genomic medicines or personalized foods is still several years away, healthcan practitioners including clinical dietetics and nutritionists need to begin preparing for the future if they want to maximize the quality and outcomes of the services they provide. Personalization is all about differences, differences between peopic between environments, between races and ultimately combined into the individual phenotype. From practical point of vies. "personalization' is about groups (or subpopulations) of a certain size with certain (genetic) traits, but can be discriminated between using other, relevant, (genetic) traits, "Practical personalization' is conceptualized in terms of categorizatin opposed to individualization.
