ABSTRACT:
Present study carried out for documentation of ethno-medicines used by the local communities of Katghora teshil of Korta district of Chhattisgarh State, which is located at 22.50 N 82.550 E and has an average elevation of 293 meters above the sea levels. The ethnobotanical information was obtained through interviews using structured questionnaires of 32 traditional healers belonging to 14 villages. Details of plant species, part(s) used and remedy formulations were also collected for the treatment of different health problems. A total 52 species in 35 families and 51 genera were reported in the treatment of various health conditions. Most of the ethno-medicinal plants were recorded, belong to family Fabaceae, Root (38%) was the most frequently used parts in preparing herbal remedies. Decoction and oral administration were commonly used method of herbal medicine preparation to treat 26 different diseases. There is a close relationship observed between people of the area and local plant species, utilized for the treatment of diseases. Many plant species are being used for multiple ailments.
