Abstract. A class of chain ratio-cum-difference
estimator is defined
for finite
population mean using two auxiliary variates
in double sampling. Asymptotic expressions for its bias and mean square
error have been obtained. It has been shown that the proposed
class of estimators is more efficient than the sample mean, Chand's (1975) Chain ratio estimator and Srivastava et al (1990) estimator. An empirical study is also included.
