Abstract :
The objective of the study was to examine the effect of core muscle strength
training on Body Mass Index of male players. Fifty five (30 subjects in
experimental group and 25 in Control group) Inter-University level male players
were selected for the study. In the study, core training was considered as
independent variables and Body Mass Index (BMI) was considered as the dependent
variable. Pre post control group design was used for the purpose of the study.
BMI was calculated by Height/Weight ratio. In order to find out the effect of
core muscle strength training on BMI, descriptive statistic, and Analysis of
Covariance (ANCOVA) were used. On the basis of the results obtained in the
present study it is concluded that core muscles strength training helped to
decrease BMI of male players. While comparing pre and post test mean scores it
was found that BMI of the subject of experimental group was lower and found to
be statistically significant The results reveal that there was a significant
(p<0.05) effect of core muscle strength training on BMI of male players,
i.e., training reduced body mass index in experimental group.
