Abstract:
Application of pharmaceutical nanotechnology (nanomedicines) for plant actives
and extracts, therefore, gain a tremendous growth and interest among the
scientists. This emerging hertal revolution had headed towards the development
of another approach for the delivery of poorly soluble herbal bioactive and
plant extracts for enhancing their bioavailability and efficacy In the same
context, a majority of pharmaceutical nanotechnologies and targeting strategies
including phytosomes, nanoparticles, hydrogels, microspheres, transferosomes and
ethosomes, self-nano emulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS), self micro
emulsifying drug delivery systems (SMEDDS) have been applied for the delivery
of bioactive and plant extracts and were identified and explored. These
pharmaceutical nanotechnologies are proven to be the most efficient and
reliable delivery systems as these enhances the solubility, stahility:
pharmacological activity; physical und chemical degradation and provides
protection from unicity. Considering these aspects, the present review
highlights the present scenario related with the expansion of novel herbal
formulations utilizing the nanotechnologies and compilation of their delivery
types and mechanism methodology, koaded drug sie, entrapment efficiency of
drug: biological activity and application of these novel formulations. These
tremendous research works worldwide, even within such a minor time frame
highlights necessity and applications of these emerging technologies for the
exploitation of herbal bioactives. In addition, this review article will surely
help the emerging scientist to update their conventional knowledge with the
latest applied work in the concern area, glohally.
