Abstract: To study the
pharmacognostical aspect of the medicinal plant Baeolepis nervosa. To study the
phytochemical aspects of the medicinal plant and to find the secondary
metabolites present. To do the fractionation of the mother extract and
subjected for Free radical scavenging assay. To study the anti-microbial
properties of B. nervosaon mother extract. To determine the cytotoxic property
for Potentanti-oxidant extracts. Thepharmacognostical studies were performed
using Photomicrography. The mother extract was subjected for preliminary
phytochemical analysis and Anti-microbial studies. The Fractionation
(Liquid-Liquid) of the mother extract was carried outusing.(Pet ether,
choloform, ethyl acetate and aqueous) and was subjected to Free radical
scavenging assay using DPPH, ABTS, NO, and H;O, To determine the cytotoxic
property for Potentanti-oxidant extracts on selected cell line (Particularly,
HaCaT and A549). The extraction and fractionation was done and the percentage
yield was calculated. The plant showed potent anti-oxidant activity on all the
assay methods. Some extracts showes better anti-baterial activity, but there
was no ant-fungal activity found. The cytotoseity studics showed moderate or
average activity on both the cell lines (HaCaT and AS49).
