Abstracts: Herbs are
used to satisfy our appetite since time immemorial. With their unique taste to
appease and colors to attract the foodie, these are recognized as
nutraceuticals in today's world for their unique properties of preventing
oxidation of and slowing the aging process by scavenging the free oxygen
species & stooping the metal induced membrane peroxidation. Polyphenol are
a class of phytoconstituents of herbs which are reported to have antioxidant
property. Various spices berries and fruits are rich sources of polyphenol.
Avoiding junk food made of refined materials and including polyphenolic herbs
can prevent the rapid introduction of aging Decrease in memory power is
reported to be linked to lipid peroxidation of neuronal cells and low intake of
the herbs can increase the risk of lipid peroxidation. Including profuse intake
of herbs in diet can increase the level of antioxidant in blood and plasma this
can prevent the loss of memory at a faster pace. Higher blood concentration of
polyphenols can be achieved by administering novel targeted drug delivery
system for memory loss and depression which can stop further loss of neuronal
functions and save the rest of the activities. The polyphenols are isolated
from herbs spices fruits berries nuts etc as these are present in nature in
profuse amount. Future pharmacy industry relies on nature for drug discovery
and that to polyphenol are a very special and important class of Phytochemical
that can treat many diseases and can be developed as formulation and delivered
in body by using modern drug delivery system.
