Abstract: India has
been known to be a rich repository of medicinal plants since ancient time. The
climatic conditions provide an ideal habitat for the natural growth of variety
of plants and herbs, which provide raw materials for pharmaceutical,
phytochemical, food, flavouring and cosnatic industries. People have been
utilizing medicinal plants resources since time immemorial in their traditional
way of indigenous medicinal practices. Chhindwara is veritable rich of growing
healing herbs, which are being used, in ancient system of medicine like
Aurveda, Siddha and Unnani. The plants, shrub, roots of immense medicinal value
are abundantly found in this area. The present paper deals with the need of
documentation and compilation of the information of the medicimal plants in
this area.
