Abstract: The
Chhattisgarh state of India is one of the best representatives of the Deccan
Peninsular bio-geographic zune. It has vast heritage of diverse ethnic groups
enriched with hiodiversity represents the tIreasure house of ethno botanical
wealth The state tribes are worked as traditional healers and accumulated a
great deal of knowledge on ethno-medicine. The importance of these traditional
medicines has been realized world wide as some of them proved to be very
effective. It needs scientific validation through quality control for
commercialization of formulations. This rescarch paper represents the
approaches for the herbal formulations, standardization including chemical,
biological, pharmacological and molecular studies for drug design. Keeping in
view, the preliminary information's has to be recorded from traditional healers
using medicinal plants akong with their habit, habitat, taxonomy, useful plant
part, age etc. Initially, the scientific study should be carmied out with the
preparation of extracts of single or representative sample of botanicals,
fractionated for their pharmacological studies for particular disorder. The
molecules of responded extract play an important role for identification of
novel new/ phyto-chemical molecules which can be isolated by chromatographic
techniques (Column. TLC). The identification and structure elucidation of new
molecule may be done by instrumental techniques (UV, IR, 'H, "C_NMR &
Mass Spectra). In case, the availability of known molecules, the botanical
extract can casily be identified by TLC, HPLC, LC MS MS and GC & GC_MS for
volatiles with the application of standard/marker compound. The characterized
novel molecule may be tested as single drug. for remedies of particular
diseasel disorder. A study of biosynthesis pathway of respective molecules will
be helpful to support the establishment of new drug design as synthetic organic
molecule leading to the drug discovery.
