Abstract. Fluorescence quenching of l-naphthylamine (1-RNH) by y-picoline in
anionic, cationic and non-ionic micelles were investigated by steady state
fluorescence spectrophotometer. The Stern-Volmer plots for the quenching of
(1-RNH) by Y-picoline is found to be linear and the Stern-Volmer constant K
depends on the micellar concentration as well y quencher concentration. The
fluorescence quenching analysis reveals the localization of fluorophore
(1-RNH;) molecule i quencher (y-picoline) in meso-phase of micelle. Nature of
the surfactant and size of the micelle play a vital role in Stern-Volmer
quenching constant.
