Abstract: On analysis of collected data, it has been
revealed that 65.93 % patient had complied as per instructions and
only 33.38% falls under category of noncompliance, i.e., those who had missed drugs
for more than two consecutive weeks. On further analysis, it has been observed that
main reasons behind noncompliance are lack of information, motivation and obstacles
including non availability of drugs etc. The authors reached to the conclusion that
most of the above reasons for non-compliance can be averted by proper counseling.
Hence to achieve the goal of RNTCP proper counseling of target group must be given top
priority.
