Distribution of ABO blood groups in Central India with special reference to Primitive Kamar Tribe

Abstract. Kamar is one of the six identified primitive tribes of Central India. A blood group survey has been conducted in a sample of 132 unrelated Kamar individuals of Gariaband and Dhamtary tahsils of Raipur district ABO blood group data from 78 samples of Central India have been reviewed. The analysis reveal caste record higher frequency of blood group than B, while reverse trend is observed among tribes. Higher value of A blood group than O & B has been observed in some primitive tribal groups inducing Kamar .Central Indian populations suggest higher gene frequency with q dominating over p. The gene differentiation among these population groups is only about 2 percent.
