Abstract. The hydrogen coactivated ZnS phosphors with constant copper concentration and varying manganese
concentrations show photoluminescence with colour
varying from blue-green to yellow orange range
under excitation by 3650 AW-radiation. The yellow band associated with Mn-transitions
dominates at higher Mn- concentrations while green emission due to copper
almost disappears for higher Mn-concentration.The photoluminescent
output is studied as a function of temperature. The samples were also found to exhibit
photoconductivity. The presence of coactivators like chlorine and hydrogen has been
observed as pre-requisites for photoconductive and photoiuminesence.
