Abstract. Effect of Rhizobium spp. and rot-knot nematodes,
i.e. Meloidogyne incognita on N2 fixation as well as absorption and translocation
of N was studied in chickpea plant (Cicer arietinum L.) cultivar G-130 grown in
earthen pots containing steam sterilized sandy loam soil. N in the form of KNO3
was applied before sowing @ 10 ppm. M .incognita
caused significant reduction in nodulation,
nitrogenase activity of nodules and
nitrate reductase activity of leaves.
Keywords: Rhizobium sp. Chickpea, Meloidogyne incognlta, Nitrogen
fixation.
