Abstract: Burha tank
is largest tank within the boundary of the Raipur city. A sullage channel is diverted into this tank. Analysis for water quality of this tank, in the month of November, indicated that there
is both diumal as well as spatial variation in the physico-chemical Character. The quality of the water nearest to
the discharge point of sullage was significantly different from the quality of the water
at places distant
from this point,
pat1icular1y with
respect to the important
eutrophicating nutrients like nitrogen
and phosphorus. With respect to phytoplanktons there was not much spatial
variation except for higher abundance of Lepocindis Salina at the point nearest to the point
of sullage discharge.
Keywords: Sullage, Eutrophication, Phytoplankton, Pond.
